Kyle’s deck is a beautiful example of how thoughtful design and premium materials can transform an outdoor space into something both functional and striking. This walk-out deck was built using Fiberon composite decking, pairing Espresso for the picture-frame border and trim with Bungalow for the main surface. These are two of our favourite colours to work with, and together they create a rich contrast that feels warm, modern, and timeless.
Fiberon is an exceptional composite manufacturer known for durability and visual appeal, making it an ideal choice for a high-traffic outdoor living area. Beneath the surface, we installed the Trex RainEscape system, keeping the space below the deck dry and protected while adding long-term value and flexibility for future use.
A wide, inviting staircase anchors the design, complete with integrated riser lighting that adds both safety and a subtle nighttime glow. The structure itself features SmartBoard-wrapped beams and posts with clean trim detailing. On this project, the client chose to leave the SmartBoard in its factory-primed finish rather than painting it—a choice that lends a crisp, contemporary look and highlights the material’s natural tone.
For privacy and comfort, one side of the deck is enclosed with a 6-foot-tall aluminum-framed frosted glass wall, creating a sheltered retreat without feeling closed in. The remaining areas feature sleek aluminum-framed clear glass railings, with aluminum picket railing used along the stairs. A matching aluminum picket gate was installed at the top of the stair set for added safety and convenience.
