The Inglis Family Project was a large-scale and unique build, designed to transform the backyard into a multi-level outdoor living space. To bring this vision to life, we excavated a portion of the yard to create a sunken deck, thoughtfully positioned between the home and the detached garage. This approach added depth, character, and a dynamic flow to the entire space.
Connecting the upper and lower levels is a raised deck featuring a dramatic 12-foot-wide staircase that leads down into the sunken area. The transition between levels feels natural and inviting, creating a sense of movement and purpose throughout the yard. Both decks are finished with TimberTech composite, ensuring durability, beauty, and long-term performance.
The raised deck is wrapped with SmartBoard skirting for a clean, polished look, while the railing system combines classic cedar with modern aluminum picketsโblending warmth and style with safety and openness.
Built for close family friends, this project was especially meaningful and a true pleasure to construct. The design is bold, functional, and one-of-a-kind, and the result is a space that feels both refined and welcoming. It was a rewarding experience for everyone involved, and the clients couldnโt be happier with their new outdoor retreat.
