This pergola was a fun project to design, plan, and build! These wonderful clients provided us with a footprint they wished to replicate, as well as examples of the goals they had in mind and photos found online to mirror. Using this information, we were free to design and use our imagination. After sending a drawing, our clients were satisfied and ready to proceed with the project. This project features a Toja style pergola. Toja manufactured the black brackets you see in the photos, along with many other pergola related products, including the removable shade sail acting as a roof on one side of the structure. At YYC Builders, we would call this a “Toja style pergola” or a Modern pergola design. This pergola is entirely built with cedar wood that was stained in Teak and Black colors. Most of the structure is built with 6×6’s, but we also used some 1″x2″ and 2″x4″ for the horizontal privacy wall and 4×4’s for the black vertical pieces seen in the pictures. We absolutely love how this one turned out – it is always fun for us to bring unique ideas like this to life! Please note: one of the main goals with the build was to provide privacy for the hot tub added after we completed our work and took the photos. Once the hot tub was added, it brought the space together and created a private place to relax.
