Another rebuild project! Our clients reached out for help to transform their rotted and unsafe deck into something refreshing, safe, and practical. They wishedย to duplicate the footprint of their old deck, but have a portion lowered and the material replaced withย composite, as switching to composite ensures a maintenance free and decades long-lasting product. After the initial meeting, we sent a quote, a drawing, and a plan that fully covered the scope of the project. We chose to do a free standing deck (not attachedย to the home), supported by 12″ x 4′ deep cement piles and pressure treated 6×6 posts. We finishedย the framing and surface with Timbertech Silver Maple and Brown Oak. Throughout our initial meetings, we find it important to outline some of the potential complications, so our clients are aware of everything that may need toย be done. For this project, it was initially decided when lowering the deck, a portion of the stucco behind the old deck would be left appearingย unfavourable. This client had a family member with exteriorย experience, so they looked after this part of the project himself. When we prepare an estimate on your project, we individually list every portion of the building process, which allows our client to see what each portion costs. On this project, we also outlined composite skirtingย within our estimate and our client decided he would go without it, so we simply removed that item from the estimate and sentย back a revisedย quote. Please note – we did not build/add the lattice youย see in these pictures. When we returned to take these photos, there was a piece of PVC lattice actingย as a skirt on the upper portion of the deck, which was added by the client. Although we favoured the lattice, the project still turned out wonderfully!
